Overview
Anna Maria is the northernmost of the three cities on Anna Maria Island, and the one that has held most tightly to its Old Florida character. Height restrictions have kept the skyline low, and the pace of life here is set by the beach, the historic pier, and Pine Avenue's small shops and cafes rather than by large-scale development.
Housing here tends toward classic beach cottages, elevated single-family homes, and a limited number of low-rise condos, with very little large new construction given the city's zoning. That makes inventory a real factor for buyers, and it means sellers are often offering something genuinely distinct rather than one of many similar units.
