Nokomis is a small, unincorporated community in Sarasota County, set between Osprey to the north and Venice to the south. It has a lower commercial profile than either neighbor, with residential streets, Nokomis Beach, and the northern stretch of Casey Key giving the area its character rather than a defined downtown.
Homes here range from beach cottages on Casey Key to mainland properties along Shakett Creek and Dona Bay, with a mix of older Florida homes and newer construction throughout. North Jetty Park, at the south end of Casey Key near Venice Inlet, and Shamrock Park's nature trails along Curry Creek round out the area's outdoor draws.
